Here is a thing I have completely not learned in grad school (nor in life): What are some literary journals that publish kind of strange, nonlinear, on-the-way-to-lyric-essay nonfiction?

Oh also I am reading so much at workternship that I can’t handle reading books outside. I haven’t had a ton of time yet, but I DO have a lot of overdue library books now. So there’s that.

Hi internet. I’ve been at my internship a lot lately, reading novels on my laptop in the basement of a very nice townhouse. Sometimes in an empty agents’ office on the third floor of the same lovely townhouse. But no matter where I am in that townhouse there is no wifi and no cell phone reception. And then I leave and either go to the science writing class I’m auditing, or to...

popquizkid: This lady in a big hoop skirt steals her mom’s knife and wants to kill herself with it cause her boyfriend went mute and so she thought he didn’t love her anymore. Some 10-year-old boys tell her it was all one big misunderstanding. Turns out her mom was like, “don’t talk to her” to him. Then…

me: Waah. I don't want to do homework.
Tanner: You have to do homework. If you don't do homework you get kicked out of school and you die.

Taking my laptop on the train to do homework on my way to tutoring. I could be bitter about this being my Memorial Day, but one of the things I’m reading is by a classmate who was a Marine, so somehow it all balances out.

Home from Long Island. Leaving in an hour and a half to tutor. Convincing myself that hot and lonely cats are not massively dehydrated. Gonna give them some wet food just in case.

Sick day #2. Sick days are more stressful when you feel a little less sick and were supposed to be writing and doing homework all day.  I don’t exactly regret setting myself up for summer homework, but shit everything is due this weekend and I’m going to be at a wedding and my brain is still full of cold-fog.

Hey take these tickets to an awesome show off my...
One more try… I’m looking for someone who might want the tickets I have for tonight’s 9:30 performance of Empire. This is a Spiegeltent show like was at Southstreet Seaport (I never know how many words that is) a few summers ago for a few summers. It’s awesome cabaret / grownup circus, very funny and awesome. And I’m really sad that I can’t go. Full-price tickets are $59. We paid $40, but...
